Slack is an instant messaging app that allows employees to connect faster and more efficiently. OX offers you seamless connectivity with Slack in order to streamline any open issues and take fast action.

System Requirements

To use OX Security Alerts, you'll need the following:

  • An OX Slack account with admin or installation permissions

  • Slack workspace Key Features:

    • OAuth identity provider installation

    • Create Manual alerts

    • Create Automated alerts [Coming Soon]

Installation Instructions

Getting started with OX Security Alerts is easy! To install our app on your Slack workspace, follow these simple steps:

  • Visit https://www.ox.security and open a new organization account

  • In the left drawer menu, navigate to the Connectors page. Look up your SCM vendor thumbnail and follow the prompts to authorize it.

  • After you have successfully connected SCM, from the Connectors Page look for the Slack thumbnail and click on it. Follow the prompts to authorize OX Security Alerts to access your Slack workspace.

  • Initiate your first scan by clicking the 'Scan' button located on the upper corner top menu bar.

That's it! You can now start using OX Security Alerts via your Slack workspace.

  • Navigate via issues via the left drawer menu.

  • Select an issue from the issue menu and click 'Send To Slack Channel'. Select your desired channel and press 'Send'.

Please note installation is possible only via the OX SaaS platform.

Capabilities and Permissions Scopes

In order for your app to function properly, it requires the following capabilities and permissions scopes:

  • Channls:read:

OX Security as an appsec product needs to be able to publish appsec issues in a slack channel. OX needs to present the list of slack channels available so that the user can select which channel an issue should be published in. In addition, OX would like to scan chat history for secrets as part of its channel read functionality.

  • Channls:write:

OX Security as an appsec product needs to be able to publish appsec issues in a slack channel. The user of OX gets to select which channel an issue should be published in. Therefore, we need the ability to publish an issue in any el that the user selects. This is why we need chat.write and chat.write.public permissions.

  • Channls:write:public:

OX Security as an appsec product needs to be able to publish appsec issues in a slack channel. The user of OX gets to select which channel an issue should be published in. Therefore, we need the ability to publish an issue in any channel that the user selects. This is why we need chat.write and chat.write.public permissions.

How do I send a message to Slack directly from OX?

Directly from the issue ribbon

From the kebab on the right-hand side of the issue ribbon, select "Send to Slack"

From the issue options

  1. Click on the desired issue

  2. From the menu that opens up at the bottom of the page, select the Slack icon

In both options, you'll be directed to the following screen, where you can choose the Slack channel to send the message to and write your message.
